SIDING REPLACEMENT AND EXTERIOR HOME RENOVATION - Project Description:
This stately, historic home had a neglected appearance and needed a face-lift while maintaining the architectural detail that keeps this home distinctive. All County Exteriors worked with the owner to redesign the look of the home, and bring it up to date with modern materials. The stand-alone garage was upgraded as well.
Siding: The entire home was resided in a soft sage color - with three types of siding:
- New triple lap vinyl siding in Sage was added on the first floor.
- New matching vinyl cedar-shake-look siding was added on the second and higher floors.
- Genuine cedar shakes were formed to match the curve of the round tower and painted.
- Existing architectural details of cedar shakes over the front porch were repainted to match.
- Soffits were replaced with CertainTeed Bead board vented soffits - the appearance of traditional bead board with no maintenance and full ventilation to keep the new roof looking good for years.
Roofing: CertainTeed Grand Manor® Shangles® in Gatehouse Slate color with the appearance of slate show off the beauty of this steeply pitched roof. New roof vents and a new chimney flashing in copper will prevent leaks. And before the new roof could be installed, the old roof shingles were removed and the roof was re-sheathed with plywood (250 sheets of plywood!!!)
For the stand-alone garage, CertainTeed CarriageHouse™ Shangles® also in Gatehouse Slate color are different from the home, but coordinate in appearance.
Windows: Windows were replaced with matching historic look and modern function. This home's historic appearance was maintained throughout.
Trim: New Azek Trimboards® were added around the windows and doors; after their initial painting, they require no annual maintenance.
Gutters & Leaders: New oversize gutters & leaders in scale with the home were added.
